Qatar, Jun 13: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with a series of engaging activities aimed at raising environmental awareness across all age groups.
The celebration began with drawing, coloring and elocution competitions held on May 30 at Vibrant Safety Academy, which received enthusiastic participation across multiple age categories. Quiz prelims were conducted online on May 31 and simultaneously, a one-minute video awareness campaign for children under 12 showcased their creativity and impactful messaging, with entries praised for clarity, originality, and effectiveness.
As part of its silver jubilee year, KSQ donated 25 saplings to Delhi Public School, which were planted by students along with principal Asna Nafees, manager of Facilities Shashi Shekar Patra, and KSQ MC Members.

On June 5, the celebrations continued at Pearling International School, where saplings were planted to mark the occasion. This was followed by the final round of the environmental quiz competition for 18+ participants, conducted by KSQ’s versatile member Kishore in his trademark engaging style.
President Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering, appreciated the creativity and effort of the children, and acknowledged the dedication of fellow MC Members and volunteers. In his address, he urged community members to ‘preserve and protect Mother Earth, and be part of the solution, not the pollution.’ Prizes were distributed to winners across all categories.
The event was graced by chief guest Thaha Muhammed Abdul Kareem, president of IBPC, and guest of honor Diwakar Poojary, former general secretary of ICC, ICBF & IBPC. Chief guest Thaha delivered an inspiring speech that resonated with the audience, beautifully highlighting environmental responsibility. He concluded with a self-written, impactful poem ‘Seeds of change’, ending with the heartfelt lines: “Together we triumph, with hope as our guide, For Mother Earth’s future, with nothing to hide.”
Guest of honor Diwakar Poojary congratulated KSQ on its Silver Jubilee and fondly recalled the massive World Environment Day campaign during his ICC tenure, where KSQ emerged as one of the champions.
The vote of thanks was delivered by ladies & children coordinator Bhuvana Suraj, and the event was anchored and coordinated by Shashidhar HB, logistics & environment secretary, with support from general secretary Kumar Swamy, Bhuvana Suraj, and all KSQ MC members.
Special thanks to plant sponsors ATS, Jayavani, Santhosh Pillai (Vibrant) and Pranav (PSA) for their generous contributions. The competitions were judged by Bharthi, Sushma Harish, Arun Kumar, and Madhu HK, who brought their expertise and impartiality to the evaluation process.
