Puttur, Jun 15: Israel remains on high alert across the country in the wake of retaliatory attacks following a recent deadly strike on Iran’s nuclear facility. Arun Godwin Menezes, a native of Uppinangady currently residing in Israel, shared his experience with Kannada Prabha, describing the tense atmosphere.
“Whenever sirens go off during enemy attacks, we immediately take shelter. Israel is equipped with an advanced air defence system capable of intercepting and destroying missiles mid-air. However, when the attacks come in large numbers, some missiles do manage to breach the defences. Just last night, a missile struck very close to our residence in Tel Aviv, producing a loud explosion. Out of fear, we stepped out of the shelter,” Menezes reported.

He added that three air raid sirens were heard last night alone, prompting residents to seek refuge in nearby shelters. Shops and public establishments remain shut, bus services have been suspended, and restrictions are in place on public movement. With expectations of further retaliatory action from Iran, the alert level has been heightened.
“Everyone is gripped by fear that anything can happen at any time. For now, we feel safe, thanks to the strong defensive measures of the Israeli military,” Menezes concluded.
