Mangaluru, Jun 15: Due to high rainfall in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi, a red alert has been sounded and holiday has been declared for schools. Anganwadis and schools in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Ullal, Moodbidri and Mulki of Dakshina Kannada district and Udupi will remain closed on Monday, June 16.

Holiday has been declared for anganwadis, primary and high schools in these areas including government, aided and unaided private schools.

Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned against venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily. Nodal officers appointed for various positions by the district administration have been asked to be alert and respond to public complaints. The tahsildar have been directed to be in constant contact.

As a precautionary measure, both residents and tourists are strictly prohibited from approaching beaches, rivers, and waterfalls and are advised against taking photos and videos in these areas.
