Tel Aviv, Jun 16: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has alleged that Iran made two assassination attempts on US President Donald Trump last year, describing him as the Islamic Republic’s ‘enemy number one’ for his uncompromising stance on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Netanyahu claimed the attempts were made through Iranian proxies and intelligence operatives. “They want to kill him. He’s a decisive leader… enemy number one,” he stated, further revealing that he too was targeted, calling himself Trump’s ‘junior partner.’

The Israeli PM cited Iran’s past attacks, including the 1983 Beirut Marine barracks bombing and its role in assaults on US troops in Afghanistan, to underline Tehran’s threat to global security.
Netanyahu said Israel’s recent pre-emptive strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure were necessary, warning of an “imminent” threat posed by Tehran’s efforts to develop atomic weapons and expand its missile stockpile. He asserted that Israel cannot afford to allow Iran to become a nuclear-armed state.
