Midnight machete attack: Man rescued in Adi Udupi

Udupi, June 16: In a shocking incident at Adi Udupi, a man was brutally attacked with a machete by an assailant while he and his minor daughter were asleep late at night.
 
The victim, identified as 43-year-old Karabasappa, a daily wage labourer, sustained severe bleeding injuries. He was rescued by local resident Vishu Shetty of Ambalpady, who rushed him to the district hospital. Following initial treatment, he was shifted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for advanced medical care.
 
The accused has been identified as Kumar, also a labourer. According to reports, Kumar entered the victim’s residence during the night and launched the attack while Karabasappa and his daughter were asleep. Hearing the commotion, the daughter screamed for help, alerting nearby residents.
 
Vishu Shetty, upon receiving the information, acted swiftly and transported the injured man to safety. Fortunately, the victim survived the attack. Doctors stated that had the blow landed slightly lower, it could have been fatal.
 
 
 
Vishu Shetty also informed the police about the incident. The police have since arrested the accused, Kumar, and seized the weapon used in the assault. Investigations are ongoing.
