Mangaluru: Festha Paus - A monsoon carnival of culture, community & celebration

Media Release

Mangaluru, June 16: Mangaluru is gearing up to welcome the monsoon with a joyful splash at Festha Paus—a unique rain festival that celebrates tradition, community, and the spirit of togetherness.

Organized by Fishing Cactus and powered by Globelink West Star Shipping and RC Mangalore Caterers, the event will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Wave Pool and Castle area of Manasa Waterpark.

Inspired by Goa’s vibrant Sanjão festival—known for its music, flower crowns, and dancing in the rain—Festha Paus brings this spirit to Mangaluru, while also drawing from the region’s rich coastal traditions such as Patoleche Fest, Ponsache Fest, and Zaviyanche Fest, which were once joyfully celebrated during the monsoon season. With a vision to revive these cherished customs, event curator Hera Pinto and her team have created an experience celebrating music, food, and cultural heritage.

The day-long celebration will include live Konkani music by SilverTone’s Band, brass rhythms by the New Star Brass Band from Vamanjoor, and traditional performances by Bonam Pidmale’s Gumta Pangad. DJ Anil will add to the energy with a mix of crowd favourites, while the event will be compered by the dynamic VJ Dixon. Culinary delights curated by RC Mangalore Caterers will complement the festive atmosphere with authentic coastal flavours.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in rain-friendly or dry-fit attire, or bring colourful raincoats. A soaking, dancing celebration awaits as the spirit of the monsoon takes over.

An entry fee of Rs 200 per person applies, which includes access to the event area and wave pool.
