Sullia, Jun 18: A road accident in Balila, Sullia taluk, led to the spillage of around 600 litres of milk on Tuesday after two pick-up vehicles collided.

According to sources, the mishap took place when a milk-laden pick-up vehicle was en route to Bellare. The vehicle, which had collected milk from four different milk producer societies, was transporting about 20 cans filled with approximately 600 litres of milk.

The collision resulted in the milk vehicle overturning, scattering the cans on the road and causing most of the milk to spill out. The driver of the milk pick-up, identified as Syed Abdul Chennavar, sustained injuries in the accident and was immediately shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

The loss of the milk has caused a setback to the local dairy societies, with efforts underway to assess the total damage. Local residents and authorities rushed to the spot following the incident. Further investigations into the cause of the accident are currently in progress.
