Udupi, Jun 21: Hindu Jagaran Vedike (HJV) leader Shrikant Shetty from Udupi has been prohibited from entering Bagalkote district for a period of three months.

The district administration issued a formal order banning Shrikanth Shetty from participating in the inauguration ceremony of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj bronze statue, scheduled to be held tomorrow in Mudhol, Bagalkote district.

Officials cited the potential threat to communal harmony due to his proposed speech at the event, which reportedly included a lecture on the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj.

The deputy commissioner and superintendent of police have jointly enforced the restriction.
