St Mary’s English Medium School celebrates International Yoga Day

Udupi, Jun 21: St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and spirit on June 21 at St Mary’s Auditorium with the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.

The event began with a graceful performance of the Hanuman Asanas by students, symbolising strength and balance, marking the inauguration of the celebration.

A warm welcome was extended to the dignitaries, including principal Fr Vijay Joyson D’Souza and vice principal madam Rita Quadros, along with staff and students by Helen Cornelio. A vibrant welcome dance blending classical moves with yoga asanas captivated the audience.

The significance of International Yoga Day was shared by Helen Cornelio highlighting Yoga as India’s ancient gift to the world and a key to physical and mental well-being.

The principal delivered an inspiring message, emphasising the importance of regular yoga practice for holistic growth.

Students also performed a joyful clap Yoga Dance, combining rhythmic claps with simple yoga poses, spreading smiles and energy.

Guided by the physical educator of the school Bhaskar, students demonstrated various yoga asanas. He encouraged the teachers and students to perform simple asanas and stretches commemorating the occasion.

The cubs and bulbuls of the school participated in the event and demonstrated various asanas in their uniform which was a feast to the eyes of the audience.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Renuka Acharya, and a strong message of promoting peace through inner harmony and regular yoga practice.
