We Will Help Battered Baby: Dikshit

New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Friday said the government will lend all possible support to the two-year-old abandoned baby who is being treated for multiple injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) but continues to battle for life.

"The Delhi government will support whatever her (the infant's) needs are, we will fulfil her needs. We are waiting for the medical report, let it come," Dikshit told reporters here.

Baby girl Falak, who was admitted to AIIMS Jan 18, is showing signs of recovery, but her chances of survival are only 50 percent, say the doctors attending her.

Falak was brought to AIIMS in an unconscious state by a teenager, Mahi Gupta, who claimed to be her mother. The baby had suffered from multiple injuries on her head and body, with human bite marks all over her body. She had a fractured skull and blood clotting on the right side of her brain.

"The baby is still unconscious, but she is moving her limbs now," a doctor treating Falak told IANS.
