Mangaluru, Jun 22: St Agnes School (CBSE), Bendore, came alive with the spirit of stillness, strength, and serenity as it marked International Yoga Day under the inspiring theme: ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ on June 21. The day was a vibrant reminder that true wellness begins within and radiates out into the world around us.
The occasion unfolded in grace and harmony, with dignitaries being warmly welcomed. A crystal tortoise, symbolizing longevity and calm, was presented to the chief guest, Dr Ashima Amin, associate professor at AJIMS a woman of many talents: a medical expert, certified yoga teacher, marathoner, classical art enthusiast, and a passionate wellness advocate.

She was joined by the school’s guiding lights principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, vice principal Sr Meena Fernandes AC, and coordinator Sr Lavi Shanti AC whose presence elevated the day with joy and meaning.
The celebration began with a tranquil prayer and a spirited welcome dance, followed by a thoughtful address by Hiyam and the presentation of a potted plant, symbolizing growth and groundedness.
Nishka of class 7 captured hearts with her powerful reflections on yoga’s ability to transform not just bodies, but lives bringing balance to the individual, the community, and the planet. This was beautifully complemented by a graceful yoga demonstration by students.
A creative skit titled ‘Yoga’ brought laughter, learning, and life lessons to the stage, reminding all that yoga is not just a physical activity but a compass for navigating life’s ups and downs. The performance flowed seamlessly into a yoga song that filled the hall with meditative energy and joy.
In her keynote, Dr Ashima Amin spoke with warmth and wisdom, busting myths around yoga and highlighting its diverse forms and therapeutic benefits. She left the audience with a powerful thought:
“Yoga is like a big house with many rooms there’s something in it for everyone.”
Adding a spark of excitement, Sienna and Felista led a lively quiz, and a rejuvenating mass yoga session brought the school together students stretching, breathing, and connecting as one.
The programme was masterfully anchored by Kiera and Sabeeha, whose confidence lit up the stage. A heartfelt vote of thanks by Claine brought the event to a close, expressing gratitude with grace.
As the school anthem echoed through the campus, the celebration left behind more than just memories it awakened something deeper: a call to live with balance, awareness, and compassion.
