Abu Dhabi: Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Inaugurated Amid Fanfare

Abu Dhabi, Jan 27: The Vishwa Kannada Sammelana, 2012 and Kuvempu Kala Utsava commenced with pomp and gaiety at the Sheik Zayed Auditorium of Abu Dhabi Indian School Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates this morning under the auspices of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Kuwempu Kalaniketana, Bangalore .
The day-long programme commenced with beating of drums and trumpets and the guests being escorted by pretty damsels and children from the main gate of the school to the Auditorium.
The event was declared open by lighting of symbolic traditional lamp by Sri Sri Sri Kumaranath Swamijii along with Dr Latha Rajashekar, the president of the conference, Dr D Javere Gowda. Dr B R Shetty, patron of UAE Kannadigas and president of the Event, Sarvotham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha with other distinguished guests on the dais who had arrived from India, overseas and other parts of the emirates.
As announced earlier D V Sadananda Gowda, chief minister of Karnataka could not make it to the event due to unforeseen reasons.
