Beltangady, June 23: A tragic road accident occurred near Badyar on Sunday when an auto-rickshaw overturned after the driver lost control, resulting in the death of the driver, Shivananda P Maladi (33), a resident of Maladi.
The accident took place while the rickshaw was travelling from Guruvayanakere to Aladangady. Shivananda, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru with the help of locals but was declared dead on arrival.
A co-passenger, Shivraj, also sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ujire.
Beltangady traffic police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and have registered a case.
