Udupi: New SP Dr Boralingaiah Assumes Charge

Udupi, Jan 27: Dr Boralingaiah on Friday January 27 assumed the charge of district superintendent of police (SP).

He took the charge from Dr Ravi Kumar, who has been transferred as SP to Dharwad.

Dr Boralingaiah belongs to IPS batch of 2008 and hails from Mallanayakanahalli in Mandya district. He was transferred to Udupi district from Tumkur where he held the post of SP.

Media persons requested Dr Boralingaiah for a live update on the police blog with complaints lodged at police stations, besides increasing night patrols in city limits in order to curb criminal activities. They also said that the blog has no information about complainants, nor anything on victims.

Dr Boralingaiah in reply to the demand for live update said that some people do not come forward to lodge complaints or provide information at the police station, hence, it takes time to investigate crimes and update the same on the blog.

He assured that all issues brought to his attention by the media will be solved, adding politely that it is not possible to reveal everything concerning police cases to the media.

    I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Borelingiah recently at a party and I was indeed most impressed by him. I understand that he is a Medical Doctor turned a Police Officer. He has taken charge of a District which was biforcated from Dakshnia Kanada. One cannot say that it is devoid of crime. However as Dr. Borelingiah said people are either shy or scared to report crime to The Authorities. Mild looking - soft spoken as The S.P. appears outwardly, I have no doubt that he means business when it comes crime. He has a long way to go and let us wish him well.
