Mangaluru, Jun 25: St Aloysius Higher Primary School Alumni Association, part of the St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA), Mangaluru, in association with chess hive, a school for chess; presents a rapid chess tournament 'CHESS-A-THON 2025' for players in the region on Sunday, June 29 at St Aloysius Higher Primary School, Mangaluru. With prizes exceeding Rs 50,000 in value, the event promises to attract the top chess talent across the district and beyond while providing an excellent platform to encourage participants to excel at the game of chess.

Chess Hive is a newly launched chess academy dedicated to making chess education fun, accessible, and mentally enriching for all ages. From young beginners to adult enthusiasts, Chess Hive offers personalized coaching led by passionate and skilled trainers.
Located at Arya Samaj Road, Balmatta, Chess Hive also serves as a vibrant community space that fosters strategic thinking, focus, and resilience through the timeless game of chess.
Details about the contest
CHESS-A-THON is expected to draw approximately 250 participants. The tournament will feature 6 competitive categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U16, and Aloysius alumni.
The tournament will follow the rapid format under Swiss-system rules, with each category hosting between 5 to 7 rounds. The top 5 players in each category will be awarded prizes and all participants will receive a certificate of participation in recognition of their performance.
A highly experienced team of arbiters will oversee the tournament, including Denzil Cutinha, Subodh Kumar and Soundarya UK under the leadership of chief Arbiter FA Sakshath UK.

Registrations are only accepted online at www.chessfee.com with an entry fee of Rs 600.
The event is registered with the DKCA and the event code is 2025/DKCA/1405.
The last date to register is June 26.
