Rohtak, Jun 26: In a tragic and deeply disturbing case, a young farmer from Haryana’s Rohtak district ended his life by suicide after posting a heartbreaking video on social media, in which he alleged persistent harassment by his wife and her boyfriend—a serving police officer from Maharashtra.
The deceased, identified as Magan (early 30s), hailed from Dobh village and was engaged in farming. His body was found hanging from a tree on June 18. Before taking the extreme step, Magan recorded a four-minute video in which he levelled serious allegations against his wife Divya and her boyfriend, accusing them of mental torture and blackmail for money.

In the emotional clip, Magan claimed he was being pressured by the duo to murder his father and sell ancestral land to fund their desires. “They are asking me to kill my father and then sell the land so that they can buy property in Mumbai,” he said, adding, “I cannot kill my father. That’s why I am ending my life.”
Magan revealed that Divya had concealed her first marriage and a child from that union before marrying him. “After more than a year into our marriage, I discovered she was never legally divorced. I even paid money to help her settle the matter with her first husband, but now she is living with another man,” he stated.
He further alleged that Divya’s boyfriend needed Rs 5 lakh and that he had already mortgaged gold jewellery to arrange part of the amount, but the harassment for the remaining sum continued. Just before his death, Magan reportedly received a video of Divya dancing—allegedly sent by her boyfriend—which pushed him over the edge.
Magan and Divya had a son together. In the video, Magan made an emotional plea to local authorities and politicians, including Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda and MLA Balram Dangi, requesting that the custody of his child be granted to his parents. “Please give justice to my family. These two people should be punished for murder. They pushed me to this point,” he said, with folded hands and tears in his eyes.
Rohtak Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kumar confirmed the incident, stating, “We received the information on June 18 about the video and subsequent suicide. A case has been registered and post-mortem completed. Efforts are ongoing to locate Divya.”
This tragic case has sparked outrage and sorrow in the local community, with calls mounting for a thorough investigation and swift justice for the grieving family.
