Muscat, Jan 28: For the first time in history, all the communities of coastal Karnataka’s Konkan Region residing in Oman came under one umbrella and one banner to exhibit their unique unity in varied and diversified identities. Kudla Cup 2012 - the first of its kind cricket tournament in Oman was organized by Kudla Friends, Muscat, attracting almost all the communities of the coastal Karnataka region to the venue - GPDCO Cricket Ground, Ghobra on Friday January 27.

As one of the organizers and pillar of the Mangalorean community in Oman, Suraj Rebello said, "It is a great and joyful experience for all of us that all the Mangalorean communities irrespective of their identity, religion and language participated in this unique competition, which is first of its kind tournament in Muscat. All the participants were united to have a stronger and one community of the coastal Karnataka region. I am grateful for the great support offered by all the members of the communities."

The powers behind this successful tournament and members of the organizing committee were Suraj Rebello, Srikanth Shetty and Yuvaraj Salian, all of them great sports personalities and community activists. The organizing committee has put in a lot of effort with planning to present a great tournament for the participating teams and also, entertainment to the visiting spectators.

The competition was inaugurated at 8 am by Donald Pinto, past president of the Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi), ebullient toastmaster, leading mentor of various training seminars and sports personality of the yester years. Umesh Pai, Gangadar Poojary and Clarence Pinto, three eminent personalities of the Mangalorean community were also present during the inaugural function. Suraj Rebello was the anchor of the function. @Well Wisher: This name what u hv given is not at all suiting u, if u wer a well wisher u wud hav told to any1 among d 3 but writing up if a public opion box shows ur attitude. Caste v/s caste what u r talking - there is no unity within, what u r talking about mixing 1bunts 1 muslim 1christain or....and making a team. If u can organise one like that do n then talk. You are a coward you cud not write your name. The statement made was "UNTED FOR STRONGER COMMUNITY" not for fighting community. Until now in Oman I have attended so many programs never i have seen a fight, only person like you can think of it but nothing went wrong. Here people come to earn and if they fight ppl know d consequence. It is not INDIA ……. And change your name from “Well Wisher,Muscat Kudla Family, Oman” because a family person wil not tell anything about his family something bad in a public opinion.
@ Umesh: At least one person gave back…
    Few more needed.

@Well wisher, Muscat Kudla family - I don’t know whether you saw the cricket tournament or just by seeing in daijiworld you are commenting. Your personal view is very good but instead of giving comments and creating problems is not good at all, instead you should have met those organizers and would have discussed with them. We all don’t know from how many months they took to make this functions a grand success. If some one are not interested, OK don’t support but don’t give wrong information’s to others. Please don’t write like those examples, it is you are giving some ideas to others.
Always be like a gentleman, those trio’s worked hard to bring all mangalore / Udupi district communities in one roof, better we also will try to go under the same roof, if anyone are not interested no problem don’t go but don’t comment against them. First I also thought the same, but when we went there really we remembered our MGM college times. There also we never thought about any communities we are all one.

A very well organized cricket tournament, great job done by Mr Yuvraj, Mr Srikanth & Mr Suraj Rebello we all appreciate their efforts.
My personal view is the tournament concluded in a very professional ,good n decent manner i would request the organisers to look for a new and better unity oriented format in the coming years coz this time we were all lucky that no untoward incidence took place , since its caste matches and if at all any incidence would take place it would b a black dot to the whole Kudla family in Oman.
We understand that the main purpose and motive of the organizers was to bring togather all the kudla communities irrespective of caste n creed and enjoy the game of cricket but i feel the motive was lost once it was announced as the caste vs caste match, it was nothin but dividng the kudla ppl into diffrent communities then how can we ppl display our UNITY in this way..
I would like the organizers to just give a second thought and change the format of the game like it can have 8-10 teams each team having for example compulsory 1bunt,1muslim,1christian,1bilawa and so on tat will display the UNITY of kudla but not diving teams based on castes coz there is high possibility of hatred developing among ourselves as cricket is played with lots of passion and is considered as religion by most of us.
(Example: A team before the start of the match say among themselves “Dada aandala bunts nakalana yaduru sopereballi(its just an example)and many such incidence might have happnened throughout the day in almost all the teams and almost all had in their minds not to loose to this particular community and not to loose to that particular community but no one might showed their arrogance in the field which we are happy for)
So the bottomline is lets not give any chance to create hatred among ourselvesn by playing caste vs caste matches instead look for a new format and show d rest of the world like how well we kudla family jell together n r UNITED in MUSCAT

Congrats to South Kanara Muslim Welfare Cricket Team and Bunts XI for the first Kudla Cup in Muscat. Really it is a well organised tournament and hats off to Mr.Suraj, Mr.Srikanth & Mr.Yuvaraj. All the three persons were busy on the ground and we never saw any banners, and also they have invited all the communities without any entrance fees. They should do the same community wise tournaments next year also, we all will be there to support you guys. I think next year you should add many members from different communities. Once again thanks for the organisers for inviting us to participate the cricket tournmanet. Will meet all once again on February 3rd. "JAI HIND"
