Udupi: Silas PU College hosts road safety awareness programme

Udupi, Jun 28: Silas PU College, in association with the Udupi district police and Udupi police sub-divisions, successfully conducted a road safety awareness programme on June 27. The event saw enthusiastic participation from PU students, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and several officials from the police department.

The programme aimed to instil a sense of responsibility among young citizens regarding traffic rules and road safety. The highlight of the session was an enlightening address by Hussain, sub-inspector of the Udupi district traffic police, who shared real-life road accident cases to shed light on the dangers of over speeding, negligence, and careless driving. His talk emphasized the importance of simple but life-saving practices such as wearing seat belts, obeying traffic signals, and maintaining lane discipline.

Principal Dr George lauded the tireless efforts of the traffic police in ensuring public safety and urged students to adopt safe practices both as pedestrians and future drivers. He reiterated the critical role that awareness and education play in preventing road mishaps.

An interactive session followed, during which the traffic inspector answered students’ questions, providing valuable insights and clarifications on various aspects of road safety. Prakash, another official from the traffic police department, also graced the occasion with his presence.

The programme left a strong impression on the young minds, successfully promoting the message of responsible and safe conduct on roads. Silas PU College reaffirmed its commitment to holistic student development through such impactful awareness initiatives.
