Alabama, Jun 29: In a bizarre break-in straight out of a cartoon, police in Alabama are on the hunt for a man who burgled a convenience store while dressed in a full Scooby-Doo costume.
The incident took place early Sunday at the Quick Stop on Highway 82 in Duncanville. Surveillance footage captured the burglar — complete with floppy dog ears and mask — entering the store just before 3:45 am. The alarm was triggered, but the Scooby-suited suspect fled before officers arrived.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the thief made off with cash and coins, but — humorously — took no snacks.
“Hey gang! We need your help solving a mystery,” the department wrote on Facebook. “This individual in a Scooby-Doo suit broke into the Quick Stop… The suspect took cash and coins, but no snacks.”
Police believe the man is a white male, around 5'9", and are appealing to the public for leads. Tips can be submitted anonymously via the department's app or by calling 205-349-2121.
The suspect’s cartoonish disguise triggered a flurry of Scooby-Doo-themed jokes online. “Maybe lay out some Scooby snacks,” one user quipped, while another joked, “Have you interviewed Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy?”
Another wrote, “When he gets caught and his mask is taken off, he's gonna say, ‘If it weren’t for you meddling kids…’”
While the humour has brought some levity, police remain serious about catching the burglar behind the costume.
