Brahmavar: Cow head in Kunjalu - SP Hariram Shankar assures stringent action

Udupi, June 30: A severed cow head and other body parts were discovered late at night around 11:30 PM in Kunjalu, near Brahmavar in Udupi district. Following the incident, Udupi superintendent of police Hariram Shankar visited the site and issued a formal statement addressing the seriousness of the case.

The SP confirmed that a formal mahazar (spot inspection) was conducted and an FIR has been registered. Directions have been issued to the local panchayat for the disposal of the animal remains.

“There is a possibility that anti-social elements are attempting to disturb communal harmony in the coastal region,” SP Hariram Shankar remarked. “This could also be linked to illegal cattle transport. We are investigating from both angles.”

To ensure a thorough investigation, four police teams have been formed. “We request the public not to indulge in unnecessary speculation on social media. Police are monitoring online platforms closely,” he added.

Authorities are collecting technical evidence, including CCTV footage from the surrounding area. “We are confident of tracing the culprits within two to three days. The case is being treated with utmost seriousness—on par with a murder investigation,” the SP emphasized.

He also mentioned that while setting a strict deadline is difficult, the investigation is progressing swiftly and every possible lead is being pursued.
