Mangaluru, Jul 1: In celebration of National Doctor’s Day, KMC Hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, hosted a special ceremony to felicitate a group of distinguished doctors from various regions. These medical professionals were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the field of medicine, their decades of dedicated service, and their lasting impact on the health and well-being of the community.
The event was held in the presence of Dr Dilip G Naik, pro vice chancellor MAHE Mangaluru Campus; Saghir Siddiqui, regional COO, KMC Hospital, Dr Narasimha Pai, head of Department of Cardiology; and specialist doctors of KMC Hospital. The programme served as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for the honourees’ enduring commitment to compassionate and quality care.
The doctors felicitated at the ceremony included:
Dr Shrihari Bhat, founder, Abhaya Hospital, Beltangady – A dedicated Ayurvedic physician and general practitioner who has built a 100-bed multispeciality hospital serving rural Karnataka for over three decades.
Dr R N Bhat, consulting physician, Udupi – A highly respected allopathic physician known for his academic excellence, leadership in professional bodies, and over 30 years of community medical service.
Lt colonel (Dr) Zahid Ali Khan, senior manager – Health services and CMO, ONGC–MRPL – A decorated military doctor and public health leader who served the nation for over 14 years, including UN Peacekeeping missions, and now oversees corporate health services at MRPL.
Dr T M Muralidharan, chief of medical department & medical superintendent, St Martin Hospital, Cherukunnu – A seasoned physician admired for his clinical leadership and compassionate care spanning over two decades.
Dr Gajanan Vasant Bhagwat, NHM AYUSH medical officer, General Hospital Kumta – A government Ayurvedic doctor with 20 years of public service, also recognized as a COVID Warrior during the pandemic for his commitment to healthcare in Uttara Kannada.
Dr K V Shreerama – A respected name in the region’s healthcare community, known for his clinical excellence and long-standing dedication to patient care.
Dr J C Adiga – A veteran practitioner recognised for his years of devoted service to the health and well-being of the local population.
National Doctors’ Day serves as a reminder of the vital role that doctors play in society. It is a day to acknowledge their compassion, commitment, and the sacrifices they make to ensure the well-being of others. The felicitation ceremony was a gesture of gratitude for their selfless service and their impact on generations of patients and healthcare professionals.
