Karkala: Walk Through Folklore as Koti-Chennaya Theme Park Opens

Karkala, Jan 29: The newly-built Koti Chennaya Theme Park was inaugurated by CM Sadananda Gowda on Saturday January 28.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the ideals and sacrifices of the duo should be followed by the youth. “This is the first phase of the project at an expenditure of Rs 178 lac and the work should be continued here and this should be developed as a tourism centre,” he added.

“Money from the MLAs’ fund has been spent on the project. This should also be developed as a medicinal garden and it should be named after ‘Thaayi Deyi Baidithi’ (mother of Koti Chennaya). The work will be initiated,” said Gowda. The programme was organized by the district administration, and the Kannada and culture department.

Vikram Hegde welcomed. Architect Purushotthama Adve, artists Jayaraj, Harish Pai, and Arun were felicitated by the chief minister on the occasion.

The idol of Koti Chennaya is 10 ft high. Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary presided. Higher education minister Dr V S Acharya, Govinda Karajola, the state minister for Kannada and culture, CDA chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Udupi MLA K Raghupathy Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, and Jayaram were present.

    i don't know why people are cheapening the legacy of Koti Chennayya by equating them with caste/religion/political party etc.don't forget koti chennayya were of divine origin apparantely born to the virgin swarna kedage who was found by a brahmin couple and later adopted by a billava and renamed deyi baidethi.bobbarya was a muslim Daiva etc.

    Please tell me how many Billava MP's & MLA's are there in BJP.
    I would request you to visit Mumbai Billava Sangha, you will come to known what Congress has done to Billavas. Magnificent Billava Bhavana in Santacruz east Mumbai, Land was alloted by Congress govt.
    Bharath Co-operative Bank today it is a successfull Bank led by Mr.Jaya C Suvarna was fully backed by Mr.Janardhan Poojary.
    Gokarnatheshwara College in Mannagudda is established by the MP funds granted by Mr.Janardhan Poojary.
    Bangalore Billava Bhavan led by Mr.Ved Kumar was successfull because of Mr.Janardhan Poojary's political power.
    Our another billava temple Kanyadi Ram temple in Belthangady collapsed due to poor construction, Mr.Janrdhan Poojary took the initiative and rebuilt the temple and got inaugurated by Mr.S.M. Krishna the then Chief Minister.
    Kankandy Garodi is renovated led by Mr. Chitaranjan even he is backed by Mr.Poojary while it comes to Collection.
    Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple today it is world famous that is because of Mr.Janardhan Poojary.
    Today we proudly say Mangalore Dasara is organised by Billavas that is because of Janardhan Poojary.
    1970 & 80's Many Billava youngsters migrated to Mumbai & Bangalore, today many of them are Hotel Owners because of Mr.Poojary. He granted loan for them when he was the Finance Minister.
    I would like to remind you Mr.Janrdhan Poojary belongs to Congress Party.
    These are some of the few stuffs I have mentioned, There are many for which this blog is not enough.

    Good concept, there are no much parks in Mangalore.Koti -Chennaya theme park will infuse our past, present and future culture.Mangalore city is fast growing and population is increasing day by day,people are facing difficulty in finding a place to relax and spend their leisure time.The existing parks Khadri,and Tagore Nagar poorly maintained and small.I think K.C park is the right place to rejuvenate. Medicinal plants will certainly boast the beauty of the park.But only the disappointing thing is that it doesn't show Rs 178 lac spend.

    Very beautiful.But i think they should have built this in Yenmoor,Sullia where Koti-Chennayya Samadhi lies.The Samadhi is well maintained by Katta Beedu Ramakrishna Shetty,a descendant of the Ballal kings.if this cultural park was near their samadhi it would be even more beautiful.sadananda gowda is from sullia he should have known this.maybe he can built another park.

    Koti-Chennaya is very popular in our districts. Many people keep this name if they get twin kids.

    Next election BJP will win all seats in Udupi/DK.

    Many Billawas vote to BJP in next election because of BJP's contribution to us. Yeddi has sanctioned BILLAWA hostel in Mangalore. The congress party just used to woo us in mouth, did nothing.

    Being a billawa I request all my cast people to vote for BJP considering their contribution to us..

    Excellent job Karnataka Govt .This was long overdue .Everybody in Tulunadu is proud of Koti- Chennaya as the Ideals of Love-respect towards Mother ,Ideal of dignity of Labour and fighting spirit against the tyranny of the atrocities done by the Rich and powerful.We are all proud of Koti -Chennaya.They are Ideal brothers for the loving sister as well .Deyi Baidithi is the Ideal of Sacrifice and motherhood .APPE PANDINA PAREKE ENKLU PORLUDU SANDADA
