Karkala: Walk Through Folklore as Koti-Chennaya Theme Park Opens

Karkala, Jan 29: The newly-built Koti Chennaya Theme Park was inaugurated by CM Sadananda Gowda on Saturday January 28.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the ideals and sacrifices of the duo should be followed by the youth. “This is the first phase of the project at an expenditure of Rs 178 lac and the work should be continued here and this should be developed as a tourism centre,” he added.
“Money from the MLAs’ fund has been spent on the project. This should also be developed as a medicinal garden and it should be named after ‘Thaayi Deyi Baidithi’ (mother of Koti Chennaya). The work will be initiated,” said Gowda. The programme was organized by the district administration, and the Kannada and culture department.
Vikram Hegde welcomed. Architect Purushotthama Adve, artists Jayaraj, Harish Pai, and Arun were felicitated by the chief minister on the occasion.
The idol of Koti Chennaya is 10 ft high. Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary presided. Higher education minister Dr V S Acharya, Govinda Karajola, the state minister for Kannada and culture, CDA chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Udupi MLA K Raghupathy Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, and Jayaram were present.
