Bantwal, Jul 5: A large boulder rolled onto the B C Road – Villupuram national highway near Bhandaribettu, close to Bantwal, following a landslide triggered by heavy rain and strong winds on Saturday afternoon.

The incident caused a brief disruption to traffic, as the boulder came to rest along the edge of the highway, obstructing one side of the road.

Bantwal town municipality and the revenue department immediately responded by deploying a JCB (excavator) to clear the obstruction.

Municipal councillor Hariprasad and revenue department officials were present at the scene during the clearance operation.
