Illegal Mining: CBI Officials to Visit Mauritius to Track Reddy's Transactions

Bellary, Jan 29 (PTI): CBI today said its officials would visit foreign countries, including Mauritius and Virgin Islands, next month to track the trail of ''huge'' money transactions in connection with illegal mining.

"We will visit foreign countries, including Mauritius and Virgin Islands, in first week of February to track the trail of huge money transactions from companies owned by former minister G Janardhana Reddy into the country," CBI sources said.

CBI investigations have revealed that Reddy and his brothers owned six companies in foreign countries including Mauritius and Virgin Islands, sources said.

"These companies diverted money paid by Chinese companies for iron ore export," sources said, adding that the investigating agency will verify the flow of funds into the country.

CBI officials visited Reddy's residence here for the second consecutive day today in connection with the charge sheet filed against him in the illegal mining case involving his firm Obulapuram Mining Company, sources said.

The officials examined the details of the properties and assets owned by the former minister which was mentioned in the charge sheet.

On December 3, CBI had filed the charge sheet in a special court in Hyderabad against Janardhana Reddy, his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy (also Managing Director of the mining company) and against former Director of Mines and Geology (Andhra Pradesh) V D Rajagopal and OMC.

The Reddys, who were arrested on September 5 from Bellary, are presently in judicial custody and lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad along with Rajagopal, who was arrested subsequently.

As per the charge sheet, Janardhana and Srinivasa entered into a criminal conspiracy with Rajagopal and late R Linga Reddy, the then Assistant Director (Mines and Geology in Anantapur district), Y Srilakshmi and others and got mining leases allotted to OMC Limited and indulged in illegal mining activities amounting to lakhs of tonnes iron ore.

Biggest mistake of Janardhan Reddy is that he was in active politics.Had he been a neutral man nothing would have happened to him like many others who are still safe with huge amount of wealth.Again death of YSR was a serious set back for him.

All these politicians have deposited money in Mauritius banks. Nowadays politicians are afraid to visit Swiss Banks. Last visit of Yeddy to Mauritius too was for this purpose only. A. Raja, Suresh Kalmadi, Yeddy n Reddy each n every one has black money AC in Mauritius. Their religion is one that's corruption. These people looted our country. Donated crores to temples to please God. 32 crores to Thirupathi Temple alone. What a shame. God don't want any gifts or money. Same money could have used to help poor people who don't have 1time meal n shelter to live. Lived like a king now in jail. Not a single BJP MLA remember him nor visiting him. It was he build BJP in Karnataka with his looted money under operation kanaka. Now will rot in jail for the rest of his life. Planning to topple central govt but landed in Jail.

The BJP Govt. in Karnataka rests on the pillars of Reddys' black money. In view of the 'modus operandi' of operation Kamala, the BJP govt. in Karnataka has no legal or moral right to continue in power.

Dear Mark, RBI does nothing in this case since funds transferred from China to foreign Countries and they cannot even verify the transaction since it is not known to them. Moreover if you remember well, in 1993/94 RBI d amnesty to their own staff members to show illegal wealth which is not in proportionate with their salary income. So you cannot rely on RBI since their Staff Members are also vulnerable to corruption too. But our poor stupid Politicians never understood that these accumulated funds in Foreign Banks will not of any use for their kin since these Cheating Foreign Banks will seize the bank accounts once they die

One thing is clear from this issue that CBI can go to another State to arrest anybody and I believe it is legally correct too. So this will give enough power to next Central Government to adopt the same trick UPA Government did in Reddy Brothers case. But does it make any difference by going to visit foreign countries, including Mauritius and Virgin Islands by CBI Sleuths? They must be very happy to go on foreign tour may be sponsored by Reddy Brothers only!!!!!! Bon Voyage CBI and enjoy your trip, come back & say we could find nothing special or important. Or maybe you find out something else which is not belongs to Reddy Brothers but not dare to question anybody in present UPA Government

The CBI has to charge every pai to Reddy's company, it is because of these rouge's they have to take a trip to Mauritius. The BJP suppoter's may say it to be a Fun trip like the one which Yeddy took to China during his days as C.M.
Anyway wrong doer's will alway's support the wrong doer's, it is only the law abiding people who care.
