Moodbidri, Jul 7: The parishioners of Corpus Christi Church, were offered a rare opportunity to deepen their understanding of Scripture through an insightful Bible class on the Book of Revelation, held on Sunday, July 6. The session was conducted by Dr Anthony George Pinto, scripture professor at St Joseph Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu.

In his engaging and scholarly session, Dr Anthony Pinto explained that the Book of Revelation stands apart from other books of the Bible due to its unique literary style. He highlighted that the book is written in apocalyptic literature a form that uses symbolic imagery, colors, and numbers, which are not meant to be taken literally but rather understood through interpretation.

He emphasized that the core message of Revelation is revealed only when the symbolic ‘veil’ is lifted, uncovering the deeper spiritual truths intended by the author. Dr Pinto also noted the profound influence the Book of Revelation has had on Christian art and architecture, citing the famous works of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel as inspired by its vivid imagery.

The session drew enthusiastic participation from seventy-five parishioners representing fifteen wards, who left with a renewed appreciation for the richness of scripture.

The Bible class was both spiritually enriching and intellectually stimulating, marking another step in the parish’s ongoing commitment to faith formation and biblical literacy.
