Haridwar, Jul 8: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman was brutally murdered in broad daylight at Sidkul intersection in Haridwar on Monday, allegedly by her partner of four years.

The accused, Pradeep Pal (28), is said to have slit the throat of Hansika Yadav with a knife and fled the scene, police said. Both Pal and Yadav hailed from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh and were employed in Haridwar.

According to SHO Kamal Bhandari, the couple had been in a live-in relationship for a long time. Yadav, who worked at a factory in the Sidkul industrial area, was on her way out for some work when Pal allegedly attacked her, suspecting her of having an affair.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Senior police officials reached the spot soon after and began an investigation.

Police sources revealed that the couple had been experiencing tensions in recent times and were not on speaking terms. A police team has been formed to track down Pal, who remains absconding.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
