Kasargod: Air Cargo of Fake Notes Printed in Pakistan, Meant for Terrorists

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Jan 30: The investigating agencies have found that the consignment of Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 72.5 lac, which was seized by the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) of the customs department from Karipur airport in Kozhikode in 2008, was meant for the terrorist outfits functioning in Kerala.

They also have information that these currency notes were printed in Pakistan. It is also discovered that fake currency notes amounting to ten lac rupees seized while being brought in a car at Talipadamba, and fake currency of Rs 24 lac recovered from Nedumbassery on March 10, 2010, were also printed in Pakistan. These notes were transported to Dubai, and then to Kerala through different modes.

The investigation therefore, now stands transferred to National Investigating Agency. The agency reportedly has gathered information that pressure is being brought at international level to blunt the investigation. In this connection, Mohammed Alsaab from Kaipamangala Trissur, Sajin from kotekkal, Abdul Mouleeq and Naushad from Kaipamangala, Abdul Karim, a constable attached to air customs department at Karipur airport and resident of Perumbavoor, and Ismail from Kottipuram, had been arrested by DRI at the airport.

It is learnt that the accused had filed fake solvency certificates in the court of economic offences at Ernakulam, in order to secure bail. These certificates have since gone missing from the safe custody of the court. There is suspicion that this is the handiwork of terrorist outfits, and the vigilance department of Kerala High Court has taken up investigation into this allegation.

An earlier consignment of Rs 20 lac recovered from Kochi international airport had also been printed in Pakistan, and shipped to Dubai. From Dubai, it was brought to Colombo, before being sent to Kochi. A person named Tajuddin from Parappa Kammadath in Kasargod was arrested in this connection.

The RBI & the Directorate of Currency jointly have to decide on a futuristic security feature and not just change the current type of security features to avoid counterfeiting.
A radically modern & revolutionary approach has to be attempted. It would be ideal to have a security feature built into the currency note which would identify the place of manufacture or source of the currency note. This is possible if the secret feature is placed on the currency notes only at the final stage of manufacture and the detail code of which is electronically maintained in a centralised location or server which can be accessed by all law enforcing authorities and accessibility can be extended to all commercial banking establishments so that the source and genuinity is established almost instantly by electronic means, at points of transaction.
In this age of e-connectivity and instant reservations that are possible by large heavyweight organisations such as the Indian Railways, why cannot this sovereign Function be protected by the futuristic application of Science & Technology ? I beseech the powers that are to shake off the inaction in taking a bold and positive step and be a pioneer amongst the world currencies in attempting such a path breaking feature to secure our Indian Currency. Jai Hind !

Dear Mr. C K Dayananda, Mangaluru,
Criminals are criminals and they should be dealt according to the law of the land. But, you giving a communal colour to each and every issue should also know that there are traitors with different names.
On 25th Jan, a contractor by the name Roshan Agarwal caught by Sikkim Crime branch on charges of possession and use of fake currency notes. On Dec 18, Hyderabad city police busted a counterfeit currency racket and arrested B. Murari Goud, Jayaram & Krishna. On Nov 18th 3 men got arrested with counterfeit Indian notes, they were Umesh, Shiv Kumar and Dukhharan.

It is a common knowledge that poor labourers are given "free" air ticket to travel to India (Mangalore included) from Gulf and handed over a "consignment" to carry along and deliver to a relative. It is anybody's guess what is there in the consignment.

THIS IS REALLY A GOOD JOB BY THE POLICE AND CUSTOMS AUTHORITIES.

FAKE MONEY FROM ACROSS THE BORDER IS A MENACE AND IT IS SHOCKING TO LEARN THAT NOW TERRORISM IS ALSO LINKED TO IT.

UNITED INDIA IRRESPECTIVE OF DIFFERENT SOCIAL BACKGROUNDS ALONG WITH STRONG PUBLIC AWARENESS CAN DEFINITELY DEFEAT THESE DIVISIVE FORCES.
