Mangaluru, Jul 11: The investiture ceremony of the student council of Sharada PU College was held on Friday, July 11.
Walter Nandalike, managing director of Daijiworld Media Network Pvt Ltd, inaugurated the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This is a great occasion. Don’t think that only those in the student council are leaders — every student here is a leader in their own way. Each of you is blessed with different talents, and opportunities are equal for everyone. Whatever field you choose, you can excel in it.”

He emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence (EQ) in leadership. “IQ alone doesn’t make someone a good or great leader. With EQ, you can lead. But if you possess both IQ and EQ, you can become a legend,” he said.
Nandalike also stressed the need to understand and manage emotions. “We all have sentiments. A good leader must learn to control anger and stress. You cannot lead without emotional balance. Equally important is understanding the emotions and problems of others. Focus on solutions — if your EQ is strong, you can become a successful leader,” he added.
He advised students to avoid the “three Cs”: confusion, comparison, and complaining — and instead embrace clarity and commitment.
“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them — but don’t repeat the same ones,” he concluded.
In his presidential address, Prof Dr M B Puranik, president of the Sharada Group of Educational Institutions, echoed Nandalike’s sentiments. “To the three Cs, I would like to add another — character. The students of Sharada Vidyalaya are known for their character, and they have brought about positive change. We have created such an atmosphere here,” he said.
He also introduced the concept of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) alongside IQ and EQ. “Spiritual awareness plays a vital role in shaping a complete and responsible individual,” he noted.
Other dignitaries present included Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, secretary and treasurer of Sharada Educational Institution; Sameer Kalkura, director and trustee; principal Prakash Naik; vice principal Aruna Kumari; lecturers Gururaj and Manuja; along with student council president Aravind Ramesh and other council members.
