Hisar, Jul 11: In a chilling incident that has shocked the education community, four students have been detained for the brutal murder of their school principal in Hisar, Haryana. The accused, all minors, allegedly stabbed the principal following a dispute over discipline.
Jagbir Singh (50), principal of Kartar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bas Badshahpur village, was stabbed three times with a folding knife on Thursday. The attack reportedly came after he instructed the students to maintain discipline, avoid drug use, and get a haircut.

“Two of the students carried out the attack, while the other two planned it and supplied the weapon,” said Amit Yashvardhan, Superintendent of Police, Hansi. CCTV footage captured the accused fleeing the school premises in uniform.
Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended the students at Mundhal bus stand. "They were still in their school uniforms. As they are minors, their identities cannot be disclosed," said the SP.
During questioning, the students admitted to holding a grudge against the principal. “He repeatedly warned them to stay away from drugs and prohibited items, but instead of correcting themselves, they chose violence,” said the officer.
The case took a more disturbing turn as police began probing a video in which the boys were seen demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. Authorities suspect the influence of criminal elements via social media and are investigating further.
It was also revealed that two of the accused belong to the same village as the victim. After committing the crime, the students allegedly stole a motorcycle and roamed various locations. Police have now added theft charges to the FIR.
Tragically, the murder occurred on Guru Purnima, a day meant to honour teachers—a coincidence that has only deepened the sorrow surrounding the incident.
