Udupi, Jul 11: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna visited the residence of fisherman Neeladhara G Tingalaya from Pithrody, Udyavara village, who tragically lost his life earlier on July 11 when a traditional fishing boat capsized during a fishing trip. He offered condolences to the grieving family members.
MLA Suvarna also held discussions with Kaup MLA Suresh Shetty regarding the incident and promptly informed the minister of fisheries, Mankal Vaidya. He appealed to the minister to provide immediate compensation of Rs 10 lac from the Fishermen’s Distress Relief Fund.
Present during the visit were BJP Kaup Mandal president Jitendra Shetty, Udyavara gram panchayat vice president Rajesh Kundar, gram panchayat members Sachin Suvarna and Chetan, leaders from the traditional boat fishermen community, and local BJP workers.
