Mangaluru, Jul 12: The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) general body meeting of Carmel School was held on Thursday, July 10 in the School Auditorium. The event was conducted for parents of grades 6 to 10. This annual gathering aimed to foster strong relationship between parents and educators, review academic progress, and share new directions for the year ahead.
The day began with a solemn invocation by the kindergarten teachers, followed by a vivacious welcome dance performed by the students, which added colour and charm to the occasion. Distinguished dignitaries were warmly welcomed: Fr Edward Rodrigues - resource person of the Day, Sr Smitha - joint secretary, Sr Rosevera - principal, Sr Dr Prem D’Souza - administrator, Sr Premal - vice principal, Ashok M Prasad and Zeena PTA vice president and secretary respectively.

Meticulously presented through a PowerPoint presentation, the Annual Report 2024–2025 offered a comprehensive overview of the school system, highlighting key facts, major activities, and significant milestones across both curricular and co-curricular domains.
Sr Lilly Pushpa, who served the institution as principal, was transferred to Carmel School, Moodabidri. Her tireless service and valuable contributions were gratefully acknowledged and fondly remembered. Sr Rosevera was welcomed as the new principal with warmth and enthusiasm. She was formally introduced by Sr Premal, vice principal, and Arathi offered her a bouquet as a gesture of cordial hospitality. Sr Rosevera assumed her new role with cheerfulness, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the continued growth of the institution.
Sr Dr Prem D’Souza introduced the resource person. Fr Edward Rodrigues spoke appreciatively about the opportunity to be part of the Carmel School community, recognized for its commitment to academic quality and student growth. He expressed gratitude to the sisters for their service through the years and acknowledged the faculty for nurturing the potential of every child entrusted to them. He commended the wide range of co-curricular programs and the calm, steady approach consistently shown by both the staff and the religious team.
Fr Rodrigues emphasized that emotionally steady and spiritually grounded parents naturally shape their children in the same way, urging them to value effort over academic perfection and to appreciate a child’s best, even if it amounts to 70 percent. He highlighted the deep sensitivity children have to stress and expectations, encouraging parents to offer emotional support and spiritual grounding at home. Noting that children mirror parental behaviour, he stressed the importance of calmness, forgiveness, and being positive role models. He advised parents to avoid impulsive reactions and to cooperate openly with teachers, warning against both blind belief and constant suspicion. Emphasizing presence and emotional connection, he cautioned that its absence may lead children to seek unhealthy peer influences. He spoke on the need to monitor children’s spending and instil consistent discipline, urging parents to correct behaviour without attacking the child. Warmth, affirmation, and unity in parenting, he said, nurture inner strength. He concluded by calling for interfaith harmony, encouraging participation in diverse cultural and religious celebrations, and reminding parents to use kind, thoughtful language, as it shapes how children relate to the world.
The principal unveiled the guidelines and suggestions for parents and guardians assembled in large number and thereby emphasised the need of strengthening home values for the healthy socialization of children, followed by the formal announcement of the newly elected PTA executive committee for the academic year 2025–26, by Zeena. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among all members of the Carmel School community.
The event was compered by Deepthi. The welcome address was delivered by Reena, setting a warm tone for the gathering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vinitha Veigas acknowledging the valuable contributions of the staff, students, parents, and guests whose efforts made the event a resounding success.
