Chennai, Jul 14: The Indian film industry is mourning the tragic loss of veteran stunt master S M Raju, who passed away on Monday, July 14 while executing a dangerous car-toppling stunt during the shoot of the upcoming Tamil film Vettuvan, starring actor Arya and directed by Pa Ranjith.
The fatal accident occurred during the filming of a high-risk sequence. Raju, known for his expertise in car stunts, was performing the manoeuvre when the situation went awry. The incident, captured on camera, has left the film crew and industry colleagues in deep shock.

Details of the mishap are still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the stunt did not go as planned, resulting in fatal injuries to the stunt master.
Actor Vishal confirmed the news and expressed grief over Raju’s untimely death. He also assured that the actor’s family would receive full financial support, highlighting the solidarity within the film fraternity.
Stunt choreographer Stunt Silva paid tribute to Raju in an emotional post on social media, saying, “One of our great car-jumping stunt artistes, S M Raju, died today while performing a stunt. Our stunt union and the Indian film industry will deeply miss him.”
Raju was a well-known figure in the South Indian film industry, having contributed to numerous action sequences over the years. His death serves as a grim reminder of the dangers faced by behind-the-scenes professionals who bring life to cinema’s most thrilling moments.
