Bantwal, July 14: The state government’s flagship guarantee scheme ‘Shakti’ hit a spectacular milestone of 500 crore free passenger journeys, prompting a jubilant celebration at the KSRTC bus station on B C Road, Bantwal.

The event was graced by senior leaders including former minister B Ramanath Rai, Taluk Panchayat committee chairperson Jayanthi Poojari, district committee member Narayana Naik, BC Road municipal councillor Jesinta D’Souza, and a host of other dignitaries.

Officials from the KSRTC, including depot manager Ismail, and community leaders such as Abbas Ali, Mallika Shetty, and Josmin D’Souza, also joined in the festivities.

Since its launch, the Shakti scheme has transformed public transport accessibility, easing the financial burden on thousands of daily commuters and boosting regional connectivity. This milestone celebration highlights the government’s commitment to empowering citizens through affordable travel.
