Puttur: Man brandishing sword in public apprehended by police

Puttur, July 15: A man was detained by police on July 14 afternoon after allegedly brandishing a sword and threatening the public in Boluvaru, a locality in Puttur Kasba village.

Acting on information received about a person holding a sword and intimidating people, personnel from the Puttur Town Police Station rushed to the spot. With the assistance of local residents, the police managed to apprehend the individual.

He was later identified as Raju (45), originally from Hassan and currently residing in Bantwal. The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.

A case has been registered at the Puttur Town Police Station under Crime No. 59/2025, invoking Section 25(1B)(b) of the Indian Arms Act and Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway and legal action will follow.
