Kundapur: Rs 980 crore Scheme to Control Sea Erosion – Nagaraj Shetty

Kundapur, Jan 31: Chairman of Karnataka Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraja Shetty, said that the scheme of the central government to build permanent wall to prevent sea erosion, being implemented in association with the state government, will be executed with effect from next year and Kundapur taluk will also benefit from this scheme. He was addressing the municipal councilors of the town during his visit to the municipality on Monday January 30.

He said that the state government has decided to suspend its initiative of building temporary structure to block aggression of the sea in view of the above scheme. He also informed that a plan to build parallel two-lane road construction parallel to the national highway has also been prepared. He added that it has been decided to permit private companies to remove silt from fisheries ports.

He hailed the achievements of the local municipality, and noted that the government, which had sanctioned a special grant of five crore rupees, has agreed to release five crore rupees more for the development of the town.  He disclosed that plan to provide integrated underground  drainagesystem to the town costing Rs 85 crore has been approved.

Municipal president, Mohandas Shenoy, vice president, Kalavati, president of standing committee, Rajesh kaveri, chief officer, Sadananda, and others were present.

Kudda Onji Budiyera..... comon Nagraj dont spoil shetty's name....... just be out from such satement.... it's shame for whole Nagraj shetty's familiy if people comenting , i agree becauee he only talk.. o developmentg at all.... Is it joke?? 900 crores.... this should have been planed long ago to implement...

    Nagaraj Shetty seems very happy with this new project.Very honest man in DK!.I read in todays paper that BBMP has mortgaged KR Market for raising 1500 crore loan.Whether our Mangalore will be mortgaged to raise funds by Karnataka government to control sea erosen!.Ashoka. another honest man in Karnataka govenment may get changed his fort folio to coastal develeopment soon to monitor sea(funds) erosion!!!

    We can make six feet wall from kundapur to Ullal with 980 crores if the money is used properly on time.I dont think this man will realize what he is talking here.He is fit to attend public functions with or without invitations.
