Mangaluru: Heavy rains flood Ullal homes; man dies of heart attack amid evacuation drama

Mangaluru, July 17: Torrential rains on Wednesday battered Ullal, flooding numerous homes and forcing residents to rush to safety. Among those affected was Rafeeq, 55, a Millathnagar resident, whose house was inundated by rainwater.

In a desperate bid to save his belongings, Rafeeq began evacuating his home to move items to a relative’s house. Tragically, moments after leaving the flooded house, he suffered a sudden heart attack and collapsed. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Rafeeq succumbed to the cardiac arrest en route.

The deceased leaves behind his wife, a son, and four daughters.

Authorities have warned residents to stay alert as heavy rains continue to lash the region, increasing risks of similar emergencies.
