Williamnagar, Jul 19: In a horrifying incident, a schoolgirl was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight at Samgong village in East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on Friday, sending shockwaves across the region.
Police said the minor girl was attacked with a machete in full public view. The accused is currently on the run, and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab him. The motive behind the gruesome murder is still unclear.
The victim’s body was shifted to Williamnagar Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Authorities have announced a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of the assailant.
“An investigation is underway, and we are actively pursuing leads to bring the accused to justice,” said a senior police officer.
