Al Khobar: MASA Members Blend Healthy Living with Fun

Al Khobar, Jan 31: The new year started off on a healthy note as members trooped into MASA medical camp and also took part enthusiastically in several competitions in a bid to test their skills and vye for the top prizes.

As the wintry cold wind blew across Half Moon Beach venue, an impressive list of eight doctors ably assisted by nurses tended to attendees throughout the morning.


Attending medical personnel:

Dr Prabhakar Mallya, Dr Mohammed Ismael Shaikh, Dr Muneeb Yasir, Dr Abraham Kallumannil, Dr Zubair Shaikh, Dr Abhijit Varghese, Dr Srinivas Kumar and Dr Aarthi G Shetty

Supporting Nursing team: Olga Mendonca, Josephine Dsouza, Bharathi Shetty, Sumitra Pradeep Kumar, Sulochana Salian, Jascintha Jerome Almeida and Nancy Vijay Charlet.

Dentist in the making, Mithali Amin (daughter of Madhav Amin, past MASA president) found the perfect setting to expand her learning experience.

Diabetic educator Marylou Samaniego, head, assisted by staff nurses Mary Jane Pechardo and Janice Pokling, spread awareness on tackling this cumbersome disease.

Vice-president Santosh Shetty thanked all the doctors and nurses for their valuable contribution in conducting MASA medical camp and honoured them with bouquets.

In recognition of continuous and committed services towards MASA medical camps, a memento was presented to Dr Prabhakar Mallya by Madhav Amin and Dayanand Shriyan.

Special thanks was extended to Jagajeevanram Karkera, Chandrasekar and Sudhir Rai for organizing the camp.

The second half of the day was filled with exciting contests like drawing, spelling bee, elocution and quiz.

Quizzing two teams, humorously titled as Masala Dosa and Idli Sambhar, Jeopardy session proved to be a magnetic draw for fierce competive sprit to its participants. Onlookers looked in wonderment as the teams jostled for the winning edge.

Winner: Masala Dosa Team
Runners-up: Idli Sambhar Team
 

The sound system was technically monitored by Odwel during the competitions. At the end of day, he had energetic dancers stomping the room with rhythmic steps to chartbusting songs. Photographer Dhanaraj captured the lighter moments for MASA memorable records. Keeping transportation services in top gear, Shiva, Keshav, Anand and Muneer were ever ready in action. Chefs at Garnish Restaurant rigged up a selection of mouth watering eatables for breakfast, lunch and high tea.

Vote of thanks was given by general secretary Viraj Shetty. Winners of the events were invited on stage and congratulated by Naveen Bhandary, Ahmed Gulam Beary and Lancy D’Souza.

The evening sunrays closed on an eventful day, fittingly sponsored by generous members Joey Fernandes, Ravi Karkera, Sadashiv Poojary, Santosh Shetty, Naveen Bhandary, Dayanand Shriyan, Ahmed Gulam Beary, Usman Hosangadi, Sadanand Poojary, Sukumar Shetty and Group, Jagjeevanram Karkera, Chandrashekar, Jayavarma Hegde and Keshav Arikady.

    Everytime, conducting something special is the speciality of MASA.

    It was nice to see Dr. Abraham extending his expertise to the Expatriates. No doubt that he is proficient in his field and I myself experienced it.
