Mangalore, Jan 31: "BJP has taken a major step by releasing a grant of Rs 397 crore for the minority communities in the 2011-12 budget, which is a record of sorts, compared to previous governments which had granted only Rs 30-35 crore. This step by the party will provide social justice to the minority communities," said N B Abubakar, chairman, Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Ltd.

He was addressing a press meet held in city on Tuesday January 31.

He said that the party has taken note of the injustice meted out by previous governments, hence this time, minority community people have been given the financial support they deserve. Lashing out at Congress and JD(S), he said that whenever election nears, they take up the issue of religion as a strategy to fill their vote bank. He pointed out there had been many communal clashes in the state earlier, but now the number of such incidents is under control.

'Prabhakar Bhat's Speech Not Provocative'

Backing Dr Prabhakar Bhat's recent speech at Uppinangady, he said Dr Bhat did not make any provocative statements as alleged by Congress. "This is nothing but a gimmick by Congress to appease the minorities and gain their votes. However, people in minority communities are well aware of the fact that they were not given sufficient grants by the Congress, but now the same party is attempting to divide the Hindus and Muslims for votes."

He said an appeal would be made to the governor and the CM to withdraw the FIR registered against Dr Bhat.

He asserted that the BJP government has been undertaking developmental works irrespective of caste, creed and religion. A protest will be held on February 7 in front of the DC’s office demanding a verified and true report on Uppinangady incident and urging the withdrawal of the case against Dr Bhat, he said.

Anwar Manippady, president, Karnataka state minority commission, said that the actual reason for Uppinangady incident was KFD activists’ slogan which stated 'Pakistan Zindabad' and pointed out that Muslim central committee president Masood was silent on KFD's anti-national activities.

Development Works for Minorities

On projects meant for minority communities, Abubakar said that ‘Haj Bhavan’ is being built in Hegde Nagara, Bangalore on a 3.16-acre land at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore for which the CM had laid foundation stone on January 15. "This is an achievement of our government, while previous governments had only dreamt of it." he said.

He further said, "Scholarships worth Rs 200 crore for as many as 8 lac students were given by the BJP government. Rs 50 lac and Rs 20 lac have been granted for the construction of Shadi Mahal in city and rural areas, respectively. In all, more than 200 community halls and wedding halls are being constructed," he said, adding that previous governments had granted only Rs 1 lac for wedding halls.

"Under ‘Arivu’ project’ 39,707 beneficiaries have been given Rs 70.15 crore for pursuing higher education. Women in minority communities have been given a grant of Rs 38.84 crore," he said.

"Also, the government has kept aside Rs 5 crore in this year's budget for the purpose of giving stipend to Muslim and Christian clergymen. This project would help more than 15,000 maulanas of 5000 mosques," he detailed.

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president Rahim Uchil, Fazal Asaigoli, K A Munir, A K Jamal, Podi Monu, Abdul Kunhi, Ronald, Jokim D’Costa, Siraj Mudipu, Rajagopal Rai among others were present at the press conference.

Jossy Saldana n me from same place Mr. K.R. Prabhu. Now he shifted to Goa, bcz Manglore is not safe. Worst than Egypt. Nowadays no one visits Manglore. Tourism has come to a standstill bcz every now n then innocent tourists are targeted by fanatics. Before BJP govt. There were lakhs of visitors from abroad coming to Kundapur Marsami beach. Now all are going to Goa for holidays. BJP ruined our state. Whole world knows Karnataka is ruled by fanatics. No investment from foreign companies bcz of corruption scandals. Ministers are asking huge bribe to allocate land. So many shifted to other states like Prosco. It's bcz of guys like you who supported corruption. Congres is the only hope for India.

Hazrat Aboobaker saab: The saffron shirt does not look original on you. You look like a goat in a tiger's costume! You were right when you said that the number of communal violence in the state had reduced during BJP's rule. The answer to this is very much in your statement. Yes, the comunal violence during the earlier governments used to be inititated by BJP, RSS and Bajrang Dal and now that the troublemakers are in power, they will ensure their government's name is not tarnished. People are smart enough to judge, please do not think you could fool them. Thanks

This man sounds so insane and look like he is just out after a brief training from Kalladka. He want to prove that the present government made more grants means the attached leaders can talk anything to any extent. He says 2011-2012 year BJP government made announcement ( money not reached to the commission) 397 crores for minority communities. If the congress granted 30-35 crores means what ever they could spend during their period they spent it on majority community. One should understand the amount generated in the form of taxes during last 4-5 years in Karnataka by stamp duty and other revenue receipts to the government. And also the rise in the real estate value and influx of foreign income from out sourcing from USA.Thus the present government has sufficient funds to spend on all budgets and plans.

Mr Pradeep, i you want to hear Mr Bhat's speech, please go through daijiworlds earlier editions. First you hear it please. Gosh, you may not find it provocative, but it influences common people to stand against minorities. That spoils the unity in diversity of our country. The peace of our mind and our native place, where we used to live as united as brothers and siters not as rivals

I can guarantee that not one person who has commented on this article has heard Mr Bhat's speech but still are spitting venom against him or Mr Abubakar. In India, riots can be manufactured by paying some goons and those who pay never get caught. People jump to blame the BJP government because they easily appear to be the anti-minority crowd. I am not a supporter of BJP nor has love for congress. But I pity the people who easily influenced by stories published by vested interests. Common man is the final loser. Common man has to start thinking and believe less on what is being published in interested media reports and rumours

BJP did very good works for Minorities, latest one being the HAJ Bhavan in Bangalore. Congress is scared that it will lose minority vote banks and creating all these hooplas.

People like Abubakkar understands what is right and what is wrong, who is right ans who is wrong.

Abubakar is happy because the government has released Rs 397 crore compared to other previous governments. But the same Abubakar does not know that this was a “game” tactic played by the ruling party to appease the minorities after the successive communal violence in the Sate. Mr. Abubakar, what Dr Prabhakar Bhat has spoken applies to you also. And shame on you if you apple the governor or the CM to withdraw the FIR registered against Bhat and you have no moral authority to continue as the chairman.

Mr. Prabhakar Bhat's speech may not be provocative as compared to others who incited communal violence. I heard the entire script and at the end of it I was just thinking what a crap this person is. His mind is filled with filth. Just to give one example from his speech: He says one Nun gave a medal of Jesus to a newly born in a Christian hospital and he concludes that all those who go to the Christian hospitals for treatment and all those who go the Christian Colleges to study are converted. Thousands of students come out of Christian institutions every year and if we believe this man then today Christians would be a majority, atleast in Karnataka. So I dont call this mans speech as communal but I call him and his speech CRAP.

MR. PRABHAKAR BHAT'S SPEECH IS ABSOLUTELY NOT PROVOCATIVE. IT IS JUST A SPEECH OF A JOKER WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS HINDUISM. WHAT HE HAS DONE IS TO UNDER ESTIMATE HINDUISM AND THE NOBLE HINDU SPIRIT. HIS TALK WILL NOT IN ANYWAY PROVOKE BECAUSE HE IN FACT PROVOKED HINDUS AGAINST HIMSELF. ANY PERSON OF GOOD SENSE WILL CERTAINLY DISMISS THIS WHOLE TALK LASTING FOR AN HOUR IS NOTHING BUT A LONG JOKE. IN THIS TALK THERE IS NO ESSENCE, THERE IS NOTHING OF HINDU SAMAJOTSAVA, THERE IS NOTHING VERY INTERESTING FOR PEOPLE WHO CAME TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE REAL HINDU SPIRIT.

I APPRECIATE THE BHAGAVADGITA, RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATA, THE WHOLE HINDU PHILOSOPHY WITH VEDAS, UPANISHADS, THE WONDERFUL GODS AND GODDESSES OF GREATEST VALUE, THE INCARNATIONS OF VARIOUS KINDS THAT COME TO MANKIND. THE BRAHMA, VISHNU AND SHIVA TRIMURTHY OF GOD WHO REFLECT THE NOBILITY OF HINDUISM. WHERE IS MR. BHAT'S STAND ON THIS? NOTHING BUT ZERO. JAI HOO.
