Patna daylight murder sparks fear, probe points to contract killing

Patna, Jul 21: Panic gripped the Dulhin Bazar area of Patna on Monday after Aditya Kumar, a security agency owner, was shot dead in broad daylight by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred in Sabahawa village, under the Dulhin Bazar police station, while locals were going about their routine activities. Eyewitnesses described the killing as swift and precise — with no warning, argument, or confrontation. Aditya was shot in the head and chest, leaving him no chance to react.

His bike and licensed firearm were found at the scene.

According to witnesses, the assailants appeared to be sharpshooters and escaped immediately after executing the attack.

City SP (West Zone) Bhanu Pratap Singh visited the spot and confirmed that a murder case had been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He added that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been called in, and CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify the culprits.

“This appears to be a calculated murder. The investigation is on to determine the motive,” Singh stated.

While the police probe is underway, fear has taken hold of the locality, with residents reluctant to speak out. Whispers of contract killings, personal enmity, and underworld involvement have emerged.

A local resident grimly remarked, “This isn’t just another murder. It shows how emboldened criminals have become — law exists here only in name.”

Further details are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
