Lopar, Jul 25: In a devastating incident at the Aquagan waterpark in Lopar, Croatia, a 21-month-old German girl lost her life after reportedly slipping from her father’s arms while descending a waterslide. The child fell nearly four metres onto a concrete surface, suffering fatal injuries.

Eyewitnesses described a moment of chaos as sudden screams were heard across the park. A Slovenian doctor present at the scene rushed to perform CPR on the toddler before she was airlifted to Rijeka Hospital. Despite intensive care and multiple interventions, she was declared dead the following morning.

Dr Iva Bilic Cace, head of the paediatric clinic at the hospital, confirmed that the child had suffered multiple serious injuries, including trauma to the brain and internal organs. “Despite prompt care and all possible treatment, we could not save her,” said a hospital spokesperson.

Lopar’s mayor, Zdenko Jakuc, said the entire town is shaken. “When the helicopter landed, everything stopped. We all looked at the sky and hoped for the best,” he told The Independent.

A spokesperson for the Lopar tourist board said the park has been operating safely for years and that this is the first major accident recorded at the site. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
