Srinagar, Jul 28: In a significant breakthrough against terrorism, security forces on Monday neutralised three terrorists in the Lidwas area near Srinagar during a high-stakes encounter under the joint counter-terror operation named Operation Mahadev.
The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched the operation early in the day, acting on precise intelligence inputs about terrorist movement in the Mulnar area of Harwan, near Dachigam National Park.

According to NDTV, Special Forces were also deployed as part of the high-alert mission. As the security teams moved in, a fierce gunfight broke out, culminating in the elimination of three terrorists.
Officials have described the slain militants as “high-value” targets, although their identities are yet to be officially confirmed.
The Indian Army's Chinar Corps, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the successful operation and added that the area remains under cordon. Combing operations are underway to ensure no other threats remain.
As the encounter intensified, reinforcements were rushed to the spot. The operation continues amid a heightened state of alert across the region, especially after recent inputs about possible infiltration attempts from across the border.
Security agencies are expected to share more details once the operation is completely wrapped up.
