Young engineer dies by suicide after leaving office meeting in Pune

Pune, Jul 28: A 23-year-old engineer working in Pune's Hinjewadi IT hub died by suicide on Saturday morning after jumping from the roof of his office building. The incident occurred at Atlas Copco (India) Pvt Ltd, where the deceased, Piyush Ashok Kawade, had been employed since July last year.

According to police, Piyush abruptly left a meeting and proceeded to the terrace, from where he jumped. He died on the spot. A suicide note addressed to his family was recovered, the contents of which are now under investigation.

When asked about possible work-related stress, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kurade stated, "At first glance, there is no indication of workplace pressure. However, the suicide note will be closely examined, and his family and colleagues will be questioned as part of the ongoing inquiry."

Police have registered a case of accidental death and are awaiting further inputs from the family.
