Mangaluru, July 29: The KSRTC Mangaluru division flagged off two new Volvo multi-axle seater buses and three new Ambari Utsav air-conditioned sleeper buses at its Bejai depot on July 28.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, who flagged off the vehicles, said there is a need to upgrade the Mangaluru division and assured to raise the issue in the upcoming legislative session. He pointed out that the division has around 6.5 acres of land, which could be developed to enhance passenger amenities, and added that he would discuss the matter with the transport minister.

Division controller Rajesh Shetty said that for the first time, an air-conditioned sleeper bus will operate during the day between Mangaluru and Bengaluru. The Mangaluru–Bengaluru Ambari Utsav bus will depart from Mangaluru at 1 pm and reach Bengaluru by 8:30 pm. The Mangaluru–Bengaluru Multi-Axle 2.0 seater will depart in the morning and reach Bengaluru by 5:30 pm. He also announced the launch of an AC sleeper bus via Puttur–Sullia–Madikeri for the first time.
District president of the KSRTC guarantee committee Bharat Mundodi, Mangaluru taluk president Surendra Kambli, former Mangaluru City Corporation member S Appi, divisional traffic officer Kamal Kumar, assistant traffic manager Nirmala, depot manager Preeth Kumari, and Depot-3 manager Manjunath were present.
