Taif, Jul 31: At least 23 people were injured, three of them critically, after a thrill ride snapped into two at Green Mountain Park in Taif’s Al Hada area, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, according to Khaleej Times.

The ride, named ‘360 Degrees’, broke mid-motion, sending riders crashing down as a horrifying crack echoed through the park. A viral video shows the ride’s central pole breaking while people were still onboard, screaming in fear and praying.

Eyewitnesses said parts of the broken pole hit bystanders as well. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals after providing first aid. Authorities have launched an urgent probe to determine the cause of the malfunction.

A similar tragedy had occurred earlier this year in Delhi when a 24-year-old woman died after falling from a malfunctioning roller coaster ride at a local amusement park.
