Byndoor: Police foil illegal cattle transport; two held, vehicle seized

Byndoor, July 31: Two individuals were arrested by the Byndoor police on Thursday, July 31 for their alleged involvement in the illegal transportation of cattle.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Qayyum (26), a resident of Gunjanagudde, Byndoor taluk, and Ramesh Mogaveera (40), resident of Kalina Mane, Byndoor taluk.

Acting on a tip-off received around 4 am, a police team led by PSI Thimmesh B N conducted a raid near Gunjanagudde, along the road from Chatguli, Heruru. The team intercepted an Ashok Leyland vehicle bearing registration number KA 47 8634, allegedly transporting cattle without a valid permit.

Upon inspection, the police found a brown Jersey breed cow being transported unlawfully. The animal was rescued immediately.

The vehicle used in the offence was seized, and further legal action has been initiated.

A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station, and the accused have been produced before the court.
