Tamil Nadu Leader Of Opposition Suspended

Chennai, Feb 2 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Vijayakant was Thursday suspended from the assembly for 10 days, prompting members of his DMDK as well as the DMK to stage a walk out.

He will not be eligible for any perks for the 10 days, a resolution passed in the assembly stated. Other DMDK members were let off with a warning not to repeat their actions.

The move comes a day after the all-out war in the assembly with Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and one-time ally Vijayakant exchanging bitter words.

As members of both parties argued and gesticulated, Speaker D. Jayakumar referred the behaviour of DMDK members to the Privileges Committee.

It is really disgusting to note that the opposition leader is not allowed by the ruling party in the Tamilnadu Assembly.is it fair and legal? After all the Opposition leader is one of the ruling party's alliance. It seems the "RAJA DHARMA" is lacking completely with CM. Jayalalitha. Such a rude girl! I think she is doing what she likes without bothering others. The way she is treating other parties, she will be the first person thrown into dust bin by the people if an election comes next. Why this kola veri dee? It seems ruthlessness is her motto and not State Progress. The only thing she knows is to crush every other party.
