Riyadh: Bunts Association Celebrates India's Republic Day with Spirit

Riyadh, Feb 2: "Today's children are tomorrow's citizens and these citizens should be nurtured to know and love India despite growing up in Riyadh" - with this motto in view, Bunts Association of Riyadh Saudi Arabia (BARSA) celebrated the 63rd Indian Republic Day recently.

The essence of Indian unity in diversity was gracefully displayed on this auspicious day. President Santosh K Shetty inaugurated with lighting of lamp followed by rendition of National Anthem.

Mahesh Hegde, vice-president and co-ordinator Mallika Mada and the Bunts team of BARSA organized this joyful celebration.

The members of Bunts enthusiastically participated in various contests held for children and adults. Drawing competition was held for kids on the theme 'Indian flag'.

The ethnic fashion show for both men and women was the highlight of the event, with participants dressed in traditional attires showcasing winning the hearts of the audience. Singing competition and outdoor games were also held.

The celebration concluded with a buffet of Indian traditional delicacies.

Karavali president Ramesh Shetty and ex-president Vijay Rai among others were present.

    I am glad to see you celebrating the Indian Republic day in Riyadh. Truly such occassions compensate for not being in your hometown and brings in lot of joy and togetherness. I know what it takes to be in a foreign country, away from home. Continue the best.

    That is the true patriotism even though being away from mother land. This will inspire patriotism in children who are citizens of tomorrow. Really commendable. Appreciated the organisers & unity of bunts in Riyadh. Keep it up.
