New Delhi, Aug 3: A woman was shot at in broad daylight in the Vasant Vihar area of Delhi, allegedly by a man who had been granted interim bail in a rape case she had filed against him last year, police said on Saturday.
The woman, employed as a head manager at a salon, sustained a bullet injury to her chest and was immediately rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre in a PCR van. Officials confirmed that she is currently under treatment and in stable condition.

The prime accused, 30-year-old Abuzair Safi, along with his associate Aman Shukla, was arrested on Thursday and Friday for the attempted murder. The attack took place on Wednesday, when the duo, riding a black motorcycle, allegedly opened fire on the woman.
Police said Safi was out on interim bail in the rape case filed by the survivor in 2023. Enraged by the legal action against him and her refusal to respond to his repeated attempts to contact her, Safi allegedly plotted the attack.
According to investigators, an abandoned auto-rickshaw was found near the crime scene. Its driver, Ranjeet Yadav, informed police that his female passenger had been shot and was taken to hospital by a PCR unit.
Based on the woman's statement, a case was registered at Vasant Vihar Police Station under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and social media tracking, police first nabbed Shukla and recovered the motorcycle used in the crime. The following day, Safi was caught and the firearm allegedly used in the shooting was seized.
“Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether more people were involved and to verify the criminal background of the accused,” a senior police official said.
