Legacy of Molahalli Shiva Rao celebrated on his 145th birth anniversary at SCDCC Bank

Mangaluru, Aug 4: The 145th birth anniversary of cooperative pioneer, the late Molahalli Shiva Rao, was celebrated on Monday, August 4 at the SCDCC Bank.

A floral tribute was offered to the portrait of Molahalli Shiva Rao at the event, jointly organized by the South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank and the Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Union Limited. This was followed by the taking of a cooperative pledge.

Presiding over the event, the president of SCDCC Bank, Sahakara Ratna Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, said, “Today, the cooperative sector has grown because of the foundation laid by Molahalli Shiva Rao. He worked for education, the cooperative sector, and local administration, but it is only the cooperative sector that remembers and celebrates his birth anniversary every year. Dakshina Kannada district has earned respect in the cooperative sector as we continue to walk in the footsteps guided by Molahalli Shiva Rao.”

Retired University College principal, Dr Udayakumar Irvathur, spoke about the journey and contributions of Molahalli Shiva Rao to the cooperative movement.

During the event, dignitaries unveiled the monthly magazine titled Karavali Sahakari, and SCDCC Bank president Dr M N Rajendra Kumar was felicitated.

President of the District Cooperative Union, Shashikumar Rai Bollyettu, welcomed the gathering, and Dr Harish Achar proposed the vote of thanks.

Vice president of the District Central Cooperative Bank, Mangaluru, and Vinaya Kumar Soorinje, along with Sadashiva Ullal, Ravi Raj Hegde, Devi Prasad Shetty, and others were present.
